Hello to all High School
shop Instructors
My name is Doug LaRue
and I would like to
introduce myself and Hot
Rod Institute (HRI). I
have been in the
education business for
20 years. I have worked
for WyoTech for 15 yrs
and the last 4 years for
VC Tech. I was the
founder of WyoTech’s
Street Rod class and VC
Tech’s Hot Rod & Custom
Motorcycle, and Custom
Paint class’s.
I have work with high
schools from all over
the country for years.
At those other schools
we had instructor summer
seminars where we would
help train instructors
in fabrication and hot
rod curriculum. Every
time a high school
instructor would go back
to their schools and
incorporate a hot rod
day or some type of hot
rod subject, they would
see great results in the
enthusiasm of their
students. (We never gave
any curriculum away at
those other schools)
If you would be
interested in inserting
a little hot rod
curriculum into your
currant program, maybe I
can help (and it’s
free). If students have
the interest in working
on hot rods more than
likely they will work a
lot harder and learn a
lot more. I call it
tricking them into
learning. If you are
interested in some of
HRI’s curriculum I can
help. Call or e-mail me
and we can work out the
details.
The only thing I ask in
return is you let your
students know about Hot
Rod Institute. We may
not be right for all
students, but for the
students that have the
passion for custom cars
or custom motorcycles we
are the school for them.
Please check out our web
site.

You might be thinking
why would HRI give up
their hot rod
curriculum? I say “if I
want good qualified
students with high
interest in the hot
rodding industry why
not”. The more
excitement and skills
the students have coming
into Hot Rod Institute
the more successful they
are going to be. In
reality that’s what our
whole intent is, to make
our students very
successful in their
careers. If you have any
questions at all, please
call or e-mail. I have
some curriculum ready to
go and I plan to keep
expanding.
Please plan to join us
for a summer seminar for
high school instructors.
We can fine tune your
fabrication skills. If
this is something you’re
interested in, please
let me know. It would be
a 3 to 5 days of free
training. We might even
have our students
involved, so you can see
first hand what they
learn and how much
skills they are
achieving.
Thanks for you time,
Sincerely,
Doug LaRue
