Jamie Ellenwood comes to HRI with a lineage of hot rods and teaching in the family. Jamie's education in fabrication begain in the US Air Force and has been expanded through other classes with Fay Butler, Lincoln Motorsports and as an instructor at Wyo-Tech.

"My dad and uncle remain the two biggest influences in my life. My dad had a hot rod/body shop where I learned to do body work and paint growing up. My uncle runs an automotive machine shop. I learned a ton there. My dad and I built a 1938 Chevy Sedan when I was 13. We then built a 1971 Duster 340 with a 4-speed, all while working on customers cars at the same time. In August of 1990, I joined the US Air Force where I learned the art of TIG welding and metal shaping. I continued to paint and install patch panels while in the service. Upong transitioning out of the service, I worked as a mechanic/fabricator at a saw mill during the day and started a small shop (Kustom Iron Works) at night. I completed a lot of ornamental iron, chassis and body work, which brought me to be an instructor at Wyo-Tech. I love teaching, welding and hot rods, and this is an absoilute godsend to have a school dedicated strictly to hot rods!"
