Kyle Harder - Director of Admissions

As the Director of Admissions Kyle can answer in questions that you might have about the school and it's classes.  He has the unique situtation of being both a Graduate and a staff member of Hot Rod Institute.

 Kyle Harder made his way to Hot Rod Institute after meeting Doug at VC Tech in Alabama.  The decision to pursue a career in Hot Rods came after graduating from University of Minnesota, although the passion for the pastime could have been seen in his studies in art and business in the years before.   Kyle graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Art, Business and Marketing Ed. in 2005.

After completing the auto-body core program at VC Tech, Kyle took Custom Paint class before the school closed in 2007.  Kyle was relieved to hear that Doug would be opening his own school in Rapid City, dealing solely with Hot Rods and Custom Motorcycles. 

While a student of Hot Rod Institute Kyle worked on his 1946 Chevy PU.  He used his stock frame rails, building his own rear kick-ups to bring the frame towards the terra firma.  The stock rear frame kick-ups were transplanted up front and re-worked to form frame horns.  The cab of his PU has been chopped 4 inches, lengthened 4 inches through the doors which have been suicided.  A custom grille and bed are in the works for the hot rod pick up.
